It was a tough Monday night for the Falcons to open their six-game road trip with an 11-4 setback in Bellingham at Joe Martin Stadium.

The Falcons were shellshocked, giving up 10 runs in the first four innings, a hole they couldn’t get out of. Starter Keller Bloodworth didn’t have his command on Monday, giving up six runs on five hits over the course of 2.1 innings and he walked three. Josh Butters came out of the bullpen which didn’t seem to bother the Bells as they knocked him around as well, scoring four more runs on six hits in 1.1 innings.

In the top of the fifth the Falcons’ bats did show some life scoring a pair of runs. With two on base and one-out Nolan Eberwein recorded a timely single up the middle to score both Cade Burnham and Ashton Graff-Rowe. Then in the seventh the visitors tallied two more thanks to a two-run double from Rees Kozar to score Josh Cunnigan and Eberwein.

Tuesday night the Falcons (24-16) will try and rebound in game two of this very important series with the Bells (25-15). The first pitch in Bellingham is set for 6:35pm.
