It was a tough night for the Falcons on Wednesday in the series finale in Bellingham falling 10-0 to the Bells at joe Martin Stadium.

The bats were quiet collecting only five hits, two of them from Rees Kozar. It’s the second time this season the Bells have shutout of the Falcons and third time overall the team hasn’t scored a run.

The Bells got to starter Maddon McArthur five times over the course of 3.2 innings after he gave up four hits but struck out three. Two of the runs he allowed were unearned but still recorded the loss.

In the bottom of the sixth the Bells put the game away scoring five more runs as they take sole possession of second place in the standings 1.5 games up on the Falcons with 12 games to go.

Thursday the Falcons (25-17) will have a day off, but it will be a travel day as the club makes the long bus north for a weekend series with the Edmonton Riverhawks (22-20) beginning on Friday night. It’s the first of two series against the ‘Hawks with the season winding down. They will visit Elks Stadium the following weekend starting July 31st. The Riverhawks also have Thursday off after getting pounded by the Kamloops NorthPaws on Wednesday night 15-2, their fourth loss in their last five games.

The Falcons are back at Elks Stadium on Tuesday night to welcome the Wenatchee Applesox at 6:35pm.
