Friday night the Falcons will roll into Edmonton to meet the Riverhawks for a three-game weekend series which is highly important with 12 games to go on the regular season schedule.

The Falcons are coming off a series loss in Bellingham and find themselves six games back of Wenatchee for first in the North Division and trail the Bells by 1.5 games. Meanwhile, the Riverhawks are three games behind the Falcons in the standings.

This is the first of two meetings between these two ballclubs over the next two weekends. The Riverhawks will visit Elks Stadium beginning on July 31st.

Offensively these two clubs are very similar at the plate, the Falcons are hitting .264 as a team with 24 homeruns while the ‘Hawks are hitting at a .261 clip and have 22 homers. The Falcons hitters will try and take advantage of the Riverhawks pitching staff who have a team ERA of 5.34 and have coughed up 26 runs in their last three games.

The Falcons pitching staff continues to be one of the best in the West Coast League with a combined ERA of 3.86. They will need to buckle down this weekend and limit the Riverhawks opportunities, while allowing the defence to make plays.

Both teams are coming off a series loss looking to get back to the win column and advance in the standings. The Riverhawks have had a bumpy road lately dropping four of their last five games.

The Falcons will play this series in Alberta before coming home for six straight home games hosting the Wenatchee Applesox beginning on Tuesday at Elks Stadium before welcoming the Riverhawks next weekend.
