VICtory

Friday night the Falcons snapped a three-game losing streak with an impressive 4-1 win in Victoria over the Harbourcats, getting it done offensively and on the mound.

The visitors opened the scoring in the top of the third inning with a two-out rally.  After Matthew Pena singled and CJ Griggs reached on an error, Jacob Embleton came up with a timely single to centre to score Pena.  Two pitches later, Talon Tucker also singled to scare home Griggs to give the Falcons the lead.

In the top of the sixth, Tucker was at it again, launching his first homer of the season to lead off the inning.  With two out in the frame, Cade Burham tripled, then scored on a wild pitch to extend the Falcons lead to four.

The Harbourcats finally answered in the bottom of the seventh but by that time it was too little too late and the Falcons went onto win their second of the campaign.

Tucker led the charge with three hits, two RBIs and a run scored, while Pena collected two hits in the win.  On the mound Jacob Beaudoin recorded the victory after a short 0.2 innings of work and Jackson Bell earned the save.  Starter Lucas Smith was terrific, throw four innings of shutout baseball and struck out three.

The two clubs meet again in Victoria on Saturday night at 6:35pm.
