Raising the Barr

Head coach Gregg Zaun continues to build out the 2026 roster and is pleased to announce the signing of Canadian righthanded pitcher Preston Barr from the University of Michigan.

The Saint Joachim, Ontario native is in his sophomore season with the Wolverines and has made nine appearances so far this spring. He has a win, has fanned eight hitters through 10 innings of work.

The 6’3, 218 pounder made his first collegiate start in March, throwing against Western Michigan. It was very early in the season so pitch counts were a factor so he was limited to 1.2 innings and struck out one in the ballgame.

As a freshman last year he appeared in 14 games, finished 1-1 and struck out seven over the course of 18.2 innings. His debut came against UCLA and his lone win to date was a victory over Central Michigan last May when he threw 3.1 innings out of the bullpen.

Prior to Michigan he played prep baseball at University Liggett in Grosse Point Woods, Michigan, just under an hour away from his hometown of Saint Joachim in Ontario. He won a state championship in 2020 and was named a First-Team All-Catholic that season.

He has three brothers, including Kurt who is also playing for the University of Michigan, in his junior season. Off the diamond Barr is enrolled in the School of Kinesiology, studying Sport Management. The Falcons are excited to have him in Kelowna this season, which begins on May 29 th at Elks Stadium when the Bellingham Bells visit for a three-game weekend series. Season tickets are available now and make for a fun summer at the ballpark.

Another wonderful opportunity to get involved is by becoming a billet family to one of our incredible student athletes. Billeting can be a beneficial experience for both players and host families. For billet families, it means opening their homes to aspiring baseball players, giving them an opportunity to share experiences within the family unit. For the player, it’s a chance to share different cultural and social experiences while developing their skills. To learn more, contact the Falcons billet coordinator Karen Nonis at 250-717-6870.
