It was a tough night on the mound for the Falcons pitching staff, allowing 15 hits in a 9-4 loss in Edmonton on Saturday night.

After the Riverhawks took a 2-0 lead after four innings off starter Max Biddle, the offence finally found some life in the top of the sixth. Nolan Eberwein earned a one-out walk, then four pitches later, Rees Kozar (pictured) blasted his fifth homer of the season to left field to tie the game at two and recorded his 24th RBI of the campaign.

The tied game didn’t last long as the Riverhawks tallied four runs in the bottom of the inning, taking a lead they would never relinquish.

In the eighth frame the Falcons scored two more runs, but it was too little, too late. Ashton Graff-Rowe scored on a ground out before Finley Buckner tallied an RBI single to push home Eberwein who walked earlier in the inning.

Offensively the Falcons recorded six hits with Buckner and Xander Sielken each accounting for two of them.

Sunday afternoon the Falcons will try and salvage a win in this series with the finale in Edmonton starting at 12:05pm PST. They will return home Tuesday night to meet the Wenatchee Applesox at Elks Stadium at 6:35pm.
