Hoot Hoot
The Falcons offence scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth to pull away from the visiting Nanaimo NightOwls on Saturday night to claim a 9-5 victory at Elks Stadium.
In the bottom of the second the Falcons opened the scoring on a Finley Buckner sacrifice fly to score Cade Burnham who had single to lead off the inning. They added a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth when Burnham scored on a wild pitch before Buckner’s RBI single drove in Ashton Graff-Rowe.
Starter Jacob Beaudoin was outstanding on the mound through four innings he didn’t allow a run and fanned three.
In the fifth with Beaudoin in the dugout, the NightOwls offence found some new life and scored four runs to take a one-run lead. However, in the bottom of the inning, the offence went right back to work and took the lead back with two unearned runs when Kaden Prosofsky (pictured) scored on a wild pitch before Josh Cunnigan crossed the plate on a NightOwls error.
With a slim lead the Falcons broke the game open with four runs in the eighth. Boogie McNeal tallied a two-run single scoring Graff-Rowe and Buckner. A batter later, Prosofsky doubled to drive in Ty Peters and McNeal giving his club some breathing room.
Sunday afternoon the Falcons (23-15) and NightOwls (23-18) will play the series finale at 1:05pm at Elks Stadium.
