Falcons Pawed
The Falcons offence was late to the party on Wednesday in Kamloops falling 3-2 to the NorthPaws snapping a five-game winning streak.
Offensively the bats were frustrated by the NorthPaws starting pitcher Evan Dugdale who threw seven complete innings allowing only one hit while striking out five and walking one. He was brilliant mixing his pitches and was terrific with his control.
The NorthPaws struck first on Wednesday scoring a run in the bottom of the first off starting pitcher Maddon McArthur. He gave up another run in the home half of the third but overall pitched well through five innings fanning two and scattering five hits. He didn’t get any offensive support and was hit with the loss.
Once Dugdale left the ball game the bats came alive, scoring a single run in both the eighth and ninth innings. In the eighth Ty Peters led off the frame with a double, moved to third on a wild pitch, then Boogie McNeal came through with an RBI single to cut the lead in half. Unfortunately for the visitors the NorthPaws scored in the bottom of the inning with what would hold up as the game winner.
The Falcons made things interesting in the top of the ninth, loading the bases with one-out. McNeal lifted a sacrifice fly to score Jacob Embleton, but it was as close as they would come as the NorthPaws held on to win, getting Nolan Eberwein to pop out to end the game.
Thursday night the Falcons (20-12) and NorthPaws (13-19) will head back to Elks Stadium for the series rubber match and the final game of the seasonal series. Tickets can be purchased in advance on the Falcons ticket page or starting at 5:30pm at the front gate.
