Bats Come Alive

Thursday night at Elks Stadium the Falcons beat the visiting Kamloops NorthPaws 10-6 to capture the series bouncing back nicely from a loss the night before.

The home side gave the fans something to cheer about immediately in the bottom of the first inning.  With two runners on but two-out Talon Tucker came up with a timely single to bring home Nolan Eberwein who singled and stole second to lead off the game.

In the home half of the third, the Falcons struck again when Rees Kozar blasted a solo homerun to lead off the inning, giving the home side a two-run lead.

The NorthPaws got on the board in the top of the fifth inning and took the lead with four runs, courtesy of two homers silencing the crowd gathered at Elks Stadium.  The lead was short-lived as the Falcons’ offence came right back in the bottom half of the inning with three runs of their own.

With the bases loaded and no-one out to lead off the inning the NorthPaws made a pitching change which did not pay off.  The new pitcher uncorked a wild pitch on his very first pitch scoring Kozar who was standing at third base.  The next batter was Kaden Prosofsky and he singled home Tucker.  Then with runners at the corners, the Falcons completed a successful double steal. Prosofsky took off from first base to swipe second while in the meantime Xander Sielken broke from third and scored to put the Falcons up by one run.

The game continued to go back-and-forth as the NorthPaws retook the lead on two more runs in the top of the sixth but the Falcons came right back again.

In the bottom of the inning the Falcons put the first two runners on then saw three straight RBI singles from Kozar, Tucker and Sielken.  Later in the inning Tucker scored an unearned run on an error before Sielken scored on an RBI single off the bat of Owen Rodgers to cap off the scoring in the ball game.

The Falcons combined for 13 hits in the contest led by Kozar who finished with three hits and two RBIs.  Four hitters in total tallied a multi-hit game.

Six pitchers saw time on the mound with Keller Bloodworth eventually claiming the win after two innings out of the bullpen while striking out a pair.

The Falcons (12-9) will now head to Yakima beginning on Friday to open a weekend series with the Pippins (11-13).
