Massive Road Win
It was a bounce back game on Saturday night for the Falcons beating the Applesox in Wenatchee 5-2 to even the series in a battle for first place in the North Division.
In the top of third inning, the visiting Falcons got on the board first with a pair of runs. With two-out in the inning and runners at second and third, Josh Cunnigan came up with a massive single to knock in Ashton Graff-Rowe and Jacob Loving to give the visitors the lead.
The Sox tied the game with single runs in the fourth and fifth off starter Max Biddle. He was terrific once again, throwing six innings and fanned three, finishing with a no decision.
The game stayed tied until the eighth when Cunnigan was at it again. Afte the first two batters were retired, Nolan Eberwein tripled just before Cunnigan knocked him in with a two-strike single for his third RBI of the game. It would turn out to be the game winning run. The Falcons added some insurance in the ninth. Jacob Embleton singled, then Xander Sielken doubled, followed by a walk to Justin Tucker to load the bases. After the next two batters were retired, Loving and Eberwein drew back-to-back walks to force home two runs.
Righty Aiden Ennis came out of the bullpen for 1.1 innings and recorded the win, while Eddie Dolansky struck out one in the bottom of the ninth to earn the save.
The win moves the Falcons (22-13) to within three games of the Applesox (25-10) for first place in the North Division with the series rubber match set for 5:35pm on Sunday in Wenatchee. Following the game, both teams will enter the All-Star break with the Falcons not playing until Friday night at Elks Stadium.
