Salazar Homers in VICtory

The Falcons struck for four runs in the first two innings on Saturday night en route to an 8-2 win in Victoria.

Trevor Wilson led the game off and was hit by a pitch, then promptly stole second then eventually scored on an infield error for the game’s first run. Later in the inning Christian Salazar doubled and would score on a two-out hit off the bat of Aidan Kuni.

After the first two batters were retired in the second inning, Nate Castellon was hit by a pitch, then Salazar blasted his first homerun of the season in what would turn out to be the game winning runs.

From there the Falcons pitching staff went to work. Starter Reece Bueno was terrific, throwing four innings of shutout ball striking out five and only giving up one hit. He faced the minimum number of batters in three of his four innings. Sebastian Castro, Ethan Rattie and Lyndon Sinclair were lights out the rest of the way not allowing the Harbourcats to generate much. Castro was named the winning pitcher.

In the ninth inning the Falcons tallied three more runs, on just one hit. Myles Walton walked with the bases loaded driving home Brecken Menuet, followed by another bases loaded walk to Sam Flores to score Kuni. Then Wilson drove home Eddie Fines with an RBI sac-fly to finish off the scoring.

Salazar (pictured left) had an outstanding game with two hits and three RBIs.

The Falcons will meet the Harbourcats for the final time this season on Sunday afternoon at 1:05pm and fans can watch the game HERE.
