Hot Hitting Tampoya
Head coach Gregg Zaun continues to build out the 2026 roster and is pleased to welcome infielder Christopher Tampoya to Kelowna.
The Palmdale, California native is in his freshman season with Cal State San Marcos this spring and is making an immediate impact. He has played in 30 games this spring and is leading his club in hitting with a .366 average through his 82 at bats. He has recorded 30 hits, 10 of them doubles, has a homerun, 20 RBIs and scored 22 runs. Prior to San Marcos he had a successful high school career earning All-League honours in 2024 and won League titles in back-to-back seasons in 2022 and 2023.
Even though he’s just a freshman he brings an exciting resume of high-pressure games to the dugout for the Falcons this summer. He should fit in nicely in Kelowna as a California native as the hot temperatures should not affect him in the least.
The Falcons will open the new West Coast League campaign on May 29th when they begin the 2026 schedule at Elks Stadium hosting the Bellingham Bells in town for a three-game series. Season tickets are affordable for the entire family and available now by calling the Falcons’ headquarters at 250-763-4100.
Becoming a Falcons billet family can be a beneficial experience for both players and host families. For billet families, it means opening up their homes to aspiring baseball players, giving them an opportunity to share experiences within the billet family unit. For the player, it’s a chance to share different cultural and social experiences while developing their skills. To learn more, contact the Falcons billet coordinator Karen Nonis at 250-717-6870.
