It was a tough night for the Kelowna Falcons on Tuesday losing both games of the doubleheader against the visiting Wenatchee Applesox by scores of 7-1 and 8-4.
In the first game the Sox scored a pair of runs in the top of the second inning that would hold up as the game winners. They added one in the third and four more in the sixth to win their 30th game of the season.
The Falcons lone run came in the bottom of the third inning with Raphael Smeenk recording the RBI.
Starter Zach Sutton was hit with the loss giving up three runs over the course of his four innings of work. He didn’t get much offensive support as the Falcons recorded six hits in total.
In game two the Falcons scored first in the shortened seven inning game getting a run in the bottom of the first inning. Nate Gray Jr had a lead-off double, then later scored on an Eddie Fines ground out.
The Sox erupted for four runs in the top of the third off reliever Domenic Di Palma in his Falcons debut. He would be hit with the loss on the mound.
In the bottom of the inning the Falcons got one back and then tallied two in the bottom of the sixth to make it close. However, in the top of the seventh the Applesox scored three more times and put the game out of reach, sweeping the doubleheader.
Wednesday night the Falcons and Applesox wrap up their series on Taylor Swift night! The ballpark will be full of Swifties as the final draw for tickets to her show in Vancouver in December will be made. The gates open at 5:30pm, with the first pitch set for 6:35pm.
