All Nine Lives

For the second time this season the Falcons complete a three-game series sweep over the Victoria Harbourcats after a 9-2 victory on Sunday afternoon.  The win also earns the Falcons a seasonal series sweep.

In three different innings, the Falcons rallied to score three runs to take down the ‘Cats under the sunshine at Elks Stadium.  The scoring started in the bottom of the third after the Falcons loaded the bases with one-out Rees Kozar (pictured) continued his hot hitting and singled home Cade Burnham and Kaden Prosofsky.  The very next batter was Xander Sielken who promptly singled as well to score Jacob Loving with what would turn out to be the game winning run.

The offence added three more in their next at bat.  With two-out and runners at second and third, Kozar blasted a three-run homerun, his third of the campaign and recorded five RBIs in the ball game giving him 14 on the season.

That would be all the scoring starter Max Biddle would need. He threw five shutout innings and fanned three for his third win of the season.  The bullpen took over and continued to shut down the Harbourcats.

In the bottom of the sixth, the offence tallied three more runs.  Kozar and Sielken each reached on an error before Justin Tucker singled to score Kozar, then two batters later Sielken scored on a wild pitch with Tucker advancing to third.  Finley Buckner lifted a ball into centerfield deep enough to score Tucker on a sacrifice fly.

The Harbourcats got two runs in the top of the seventh but it was too little, too late as the Falcons tallied their 19th win of the season and are now 2.5 games back of the Wenatchee Applesox for first place in the North Division.  The club will have Monday off before playing in another home-and-home with the Kamloops NorthPaws starting on Tuesday at Elks Stadium.  Tickets are available now in advance on the Falcons ticket page or can be purchased at the gate starting at 5:30pm on Tuesday.
