A Steel of a Deal

The Kelowna Falcons are excited to announce that alumnus Jake Steels was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 18th round of the Major League Baseball Draft.
As a member of our 2022 roster, Steels was one of the best all around players in the line-up. He led the club with a .327 average with 51 hits including 12 doubles, a triple and two homers with 29 RBIs. Those 51 hits are tied for eighth most in our franchise history. He also collected 10 stolen bases and was terrific in centerfield with 82 putouts and three defensive assists.
This past spring Steels played his senior year of eligibility at Cal Poly where he led the Mustangs hitting .381 with 82 hits and eight homers.
He has some very good baseball bloodlines with his father playing in the Major Leagues. From 1980-1992 James Steels played for the San Diego Padres, Texas Rangers and San Francisco Giants.
Congratulations Jake Steels, we are proud to call you a Falcon!
