The Falcons continue their six-game road trip with a stop in Wenatchee on Monday night.
This past weekend the Falcons took two of three at Port Angeles which included a 7-4 victory over the Lefties on Sunday highlighted by three homeruns. Over the weekend the Falcons outscored the Lefties 17-13 and got the timely hits they needed to win the series.
Monday night they open a set against the division leading Applesox in Wenatchee at Paul Thomas Stadium who are 6-3 at home and 5.5 games up on the Falcons. That said, two of their three home losses came this past weekend when they met the Walla Walla Sweets.
Offensively the Sox have the league’s third best batting average at .271 and the best on-base percentage of .391. Power hitter Antonio Gianni leads the West Coast League with four homeruns but has only hit one since June 8th.
They also lead the league averaging over six runs a game, however they have struggled to hold other teams down. Their pitching staff is in the middle of the pack with a 4.29 ERA and are allowing over five runs each contest.
The Falcons offence has been heating up as of late and could find themselves feasting on Sox pitchers. They lead the league with nine homeruns, three of which came last night, two of the bat of Caden Mitchell. As a team they are hitting .246 and are averaging over five runs a game.
Monday night Kyle Scritzky will make his first start and third appearance of the summer. He’s a sophomore from San Jose State University. The Sox will counter with a lefty of their own in Cam Hoiland who will make his first appearance this season.
The Falcons return to Kelowna on Friday night to open a three-game weekend set with the Yakima Pippins. Tickets are available now, reserve your spot at Elks Stadium today, visit HERE.
