Duff Bomb
The four-game slide is over after the Falcons scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to break a tied ball game to win 6-3 on Tuesday night.
The loudest hit of the game was a two-run homer by Trey Duffield (pictured) in that eighth inning to secure the Falcons fourth win of the season.
In the bottom of the first inning, the Falcons took the lead on a two-out double by Matthew Pena to chase home Raphael Smeenk who was hit by a pitch to extend the frame. The offence added single runs in the third and the fourth with Pena and Jacob Devenny picking up RBIs.
The visiting Edmonton Riverhawks tied it in the top of the seventh inning before Raydley Legito scored on an error followed by Duffield’s big blast in the eighth.
Caleb Taylor came out of the bullpen to capture the win and Isaac Godard recorded the save pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning.
Wednesday night the Falcons and Riverhawks battle again at Elks Stadium. The first 150 fans through the gates receive a complimentary autographed team baseball courtesy of Tim Hortons. The gates open at 5:30pm, with the first pitch set for 6:35pm and lefty Gus McKay is the scheduled starter for the Falcons.
