Life changing, rewarding and memorable

Host a Kelowna Falcon

The Kelowna Falcons are in search of host families for the upcoming season.

Each summer, talented collegiate athletes from across Canada and the United States travel to Kelowna to compete in the West Coast League. Because these players are away from home for the season, they rely on generous local families to provide a welcoming place to stay.

Billeting is a long-standing tradition in collegiate summer baseball and can be a rewarding experience for both players and host families. Host families often build lasting friendships while sharing their home, their community, and the excitement of Falcons baseball. For players, billeting offers the opportunity to experience life in the Okanagan while focusing on their development both on and off the field.

Our dedicated Billet Coordinator works closely with both families and players to ensure a positive experience for everyone involved. Families are supported throughout the season, and players are expected to respect household guidelines and represent the Falcons organization with professionalism and appreciation.

Host Family Responsibilities

Host families are asked to provide:

  • A safe, clean, and supportive home environment
  • A bedroom and basic living accommodations
  • A welcoming environment that helps players feel part of the household

Families should also communicate with the Billet Coordinator if any concerns arise during the season.

Player Expectations

Players who are billeted with local families are expected to:

  • Be respectful, courteous, and appreciative guests
  • Follow all household rules and expectations
  • Assist around the home when appropriate
  • Represent the Kelowna Falcons and their host family in a positive manner

Host Family FAQ

Host families receive a grocery allowance, two season tickets and a special BBQ at the end of the season.

A billet family is required to provide the following:

  • A private bed for each player (players can share a room with another player, but need to have their own bed)
  • Access to a bathroom
  • Meals/food for player(s) when they are in town
  • Access to your laundry equipment (players do their own laundry)
  • Assist with arranging player transportation to/from the ballpark as needed (some players will have their own vehicles and often players will carpool with each other)

Falcons players begin to arrive in late May or early June and the season comes to an end mid-August.  The players are on the road for approximately half of the season.

Potential billet families are asked to contact our Billet Coordinator to discuss the program further.

Typically, Falcons billet families will take in one to two players into their homes.
