A Sweet Series

Tuesday night the Falcons finally return home to Elks Stadium after a six-game road trip which saw them sweep the Victoria Harbourcats this past weekend.

The Falcons (4-5) welcome the Walla Walla Sweets (6-3) to town for the first time since July of 2022.  After a slow start, the offence is starting to heat up with a team average of .230 and have shown some pop, blasting nine home runs, second most in the West Coast League.   Matthew Pena leads the way at the plate hitting .333 with 11 hits, three homers and 10 RBIs.  Both Ashton Graff-Rowe and Jacob Embleton have also hit the ball well and have combined for seven more extra base hits through the first nine games.

On the mound, the pitching staff has started to settle in as well with the league’s third best ERA at 4.15 and have struck out 79 batters to date.   They will need to lock in against a very good hitting Sweets team that leads the WCL with a team average of .297 and .432 slugging percentage.

The Sweets are also coming off a weekend sweep, pounding the visiting Bend Elks, outscoring them 30-9 including Sunday’s finale winning 13-1.  On the bump their pitching staff has been decent with a 4.56 ERA and have a league best 103 strikeouts.

Max Biddle will get the ball for the Falcons, making his third start of the season while still looking for his first win. He has struck out three batters over the course of his seven innings of work.

Tickets for Tuesday night’s game are available now in advance, or you can purchase tickets at the gate, an hour before the opening pitch, beginning at 5:30pm.
